Today’s Sermon – Worship Through The Word

The Sweet Bliss of the Church : Psalm 133

This Psalm must be a call to unity, a call to love, to restore broken relationships, to live in sweet joy and the bliss of harmony with God and each other.

The audio this week was not available. In Pastor’s opening remarks he talks about how we are living broken relationships, worshiping idols, destroying our harmony with God, and living a life not worthy of God’s Blessings and Love. God never intended us to live our lives not in harmony with him. But because of our Sinful Nature we have strayed from God. David The writer of Psalm 133 is encouraging us to rebuild our relationship with God and live in harmony with God and One another.

Psalm 133  (NIV) - A song of ascents. Of David.

1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.

3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.

For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

Sermon Notes:

1.  Unity is good and pleasant  - God’s original intent

Genesis 1:God created the Heavens and the Earth. The History of Creation
1:31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.

So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Genesis 2: Life in God’s Garden
8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had

Adam and Eve : 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be[t] joined to

his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and

his wife, and were not ashamed.

In Genesis 3 – Adam and Eve sin and you have the fall of man. David is writing about God’s original intent and how wonderful it is to worship God in harmony.

             a.    Unity is like anointing oil

             b.    Unity is like dew

2. Unity is found in Jesus Christ

3. Unity is to be found in Christ’s people, the church
