but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is,

his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The Triumphs of Trusting: Experiencing the Impossible : Luke 18:24-30

Opening Remarks:

In all things we must cling to Jesus’ care and provision, for “What is impossible for people is possible with God”.

Jesus exposes the idolotry in the rich man. The world (worldly things) prevailed in this man instead of God. His idol was his wealth.

In verse 24 Jesus said,  “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Our idols hinder us in our walk with the Lord.

1. Jesus : What’s impossible (following him – verses 24-26)

24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom

of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye

of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

2. Jesus : Reversing what is Impossible (following him – verse 27)

26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”27

Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

3. Jesus : Reminds us of the immense blessing (following him – verse 28-30)

28 Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”

29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers

or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God

30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.”

Application – Trusting

[-] Fill our heart with Joy. Do we have this Joy? God is our Salvation.

[-] Scripture say things, wealth, money, power; are all very dangerous. They become our Idols replacing God in our lives.

[-] God reaches out to us, he will prune us and discipline us for our own well-being.

See Revelations 3:17-18

Revelation 3:17-18  (NIV)
17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

O Come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
